They revealed that visitors from the UN, the media, or even the families of the prisoners were not permitted to meet them. Prisoners were detained by the US army, who then questioned them before deciding whether or not to keep them there. In the US, there was not a single trial before a magistrate. Additionally, these convicts were unable to appeal cases in domestic courts. The captives were subjected to acts of torture that were against American law. They were not receiving the care that even prisoners of war are entitled to under international agreements. Even after they were formally found not guilty, prisoners were not freed.
