Brahmins composed Prashastis. This was because,
1)      Brahmins occasionally helped in administration.
2)      Kings often rewarded Brahmins with grants of land.
3)      Prashastis are a special kind of inscription, meaning “in praise of”.
4)      They were composed by learned Brahmans in praise of the rulers, which may not be true.
5)      They tell us how rulers of that time wanted to illustrate themselves.
6)      The rulers wanted themselves to be depicted, i.e. victorious, achievers, valiant warriors etc.
