The caste system creates inequality in society. The absence of resources and opportunities for various people is inequality. Inequality can take many different forms, including social and economic inequality. All disparities in income and asset distribution constitute economic inequality. Social inequality is the absence of social equality, in which members of a society do not enjoy the same social position, adequate access to healthcare, etc. According to the caste system, people were assigned to specific groups based on their work and were expected to stay in those groups. This process was viewed as irreversible. Furthermore, it was not thought necessary to know anything beyond what is required for the profession because one can not be supposed to change it.
