Kharif crops are grown during the rainy season.
They are sown in June-July and harvested from November- October. Farmers in Palampur mainly grow jowar and bajra, used for cattle feeding. Rabi crops are mostly grown in the winter season. They are mainly sown in October-November and harvested from March- April. Wheat is the most grown crop of this season. Farmers can grow multiple crops because of the well-developed irrigation facilities. Farmers should also have sufficient capital to invest and meet the farm expenses. They also have to take care of the fertility of the soil, which can degrade after multiple cropping.
