Detailed Solution

Taungya cultivation was a technique where local farmers could cultivate temporarily within plantations. Taungya cultivation was somewhat similar to shifting cultivation. This agricultural technique was practised in the Tharrawaddy division in Burma. Local farmers could cultivate temporarily within plantations. In this practice, men made holes in the soil with iron tips of long bamboo poles. Women would sow paddy in the holes made. Slash and burn or shifting cultivation was similar to the taungya technique.
