Detailed Solution

Sher Khan defeated Humayun at Chausa in 1539.
Humayun split his inheritance by his father's wishes when he ascended to the throne. Each of his brothers received a province. Humayun's position against Afghan rivals was damaged by his brother Mirza Kamran's ambitions. Humayun fled to Iran after being defeated by Sher Khan at Chausa (1539) and Kanauj (1540). The entire army of the Mughals was wiped out. By jumping into the Ganges and using Nizam, a water carrier, to cross it, Humayun had just saved his life. After this conflict, Sher Khan proclaimed himself the Sultan and took the name, Sher Shah. The Safavid Shah provided support for Humayun in Iran.
