The priest divided people in four varnas. This categorisation was done based on the work done by people in the later Vedic period which was written in the book later Vedic and this book was written after Rig Veda. The four categories of people were brahmins, Kshatriya, vaishyas and shudras. Brahmins who study and teach Vedas and perform yajnas. Kshatriya is considered a ruler. Vaishyas who perform sacrifices and shudras who served the rest three varnas were not allowed to perform rituals.
