Detailed Solution

Oak forests were depleting in England by the nineteenth century. The absence of oak forests stopped the regular supply of strong and durable timber and created a problem for shipbuilding for the Royal Navy. As a result, the English government sent search parties to explore the forest resources of India. As a result, the British government found oak forests in India. The government ordered massive scale felling of oak trees to export high-quality timber from India to England in vast quantities. The mass felling of trees led to rapid deforestation in the forests of India, which initially did not concern the British government.
