A Gram Panchayat governs each village or group of villages. The Panch, President, or Sarpanch is the village's decision-making body and is directly chosen by all adult residents. The Gram Sabha supervises the Panchayat, which is comprised of all voters. The local system extends all the way to the district level, where a group of Gram Panchayats form a Panchayat Samiti, Block, or Mandal. The Zilla Parishad is made up of elected members from all of the Panchayat Samitis or Mandals. MPs of the Zilla Parishad include Lok Sabha members, Local MLAs, and officials. Its Chairperson is the Parishad's political leader.
