However, the method it follows makes it very slow. For instance, a dictatorship does not need to discuss matters with many people and can make hasty decisions. But democracies discuss matters multiple times so that a resolution comes very slowly. Many times, democracies are unresponsive as well as corrupt. Although it claims transparency, democratic procedures are so slow that the practical loopholes are exploited by many in power. Even the political equality it claims has practical shortcomings. Voting is based on religious, communal, and other kinds of preferences. Elections may be manipulated. People in certain areas lack the resources to choose candidates wisely.
