India had a very rich and old tradition of handwritten manuscripts. The practice of writing manuscripts was an important role in the evolution of print in India. Manuscripts written in diverse vernacular languages have a long history in the country. After that, the writings were printed on dried palm leaves or homemade paper. Manuscripts were still produced following the invention of print technology, but they were expensive and extremely fragile. They had to be handled with extreme caution, but they couldn't be skimmed since they were written differently.
