Detailed Solution

East India Company had overtaken Diwani's rights.
East India Company was appointed Diwan of Bengal on 12 august 1765 after the battle of Buxar. East India Company won the battle of Buxar and then signed a treaty of Allahabad with Shah Alam II. In this treaty, Robert Clive took the Diwani rights from Mughal emperor Shah Alam II. Diwani's rights were the right to collect tax and revenue in Bengal. By Diwani rights, the company became the chief financial administrator of Bengal; hence the title of Diwan of Bengal was taken by Robert Clive.
