Detailed Solution

The Chauri Chaura incident of February 1922 forced Mahatma Gandhi to call off the non-cooperation movement because it became too violent to handle. During this movement, the people turned violent and set ablaze the police station, which caused the death of twenty-two police officers. And Mahatma Gandhi was against any act of such violence. The non-cooperation movement also slowed down in urban areas because of this violent incident. With this incident, Mahatma Gandhi thought the people needed to train appropriately about the movements, practice self-restraint in any such case of violence, and silently make the oppressor realise their mistake.
