Detailed Solution

The Portuguese introduced the printing press in India. The first printing press in India came to Goa with the Portuguese. It was established at the Jesuit Saint Paul's College in Old Goa in the mid-sixteenth century. After the arrival of the printing press, the Jesuit priests learned the Konkani language. Books started printing in Konkani and Kannada, and Malayalam and Tamil language. The first Malayalam book was printed in 1713. Dutch Protestant Missionaries printed 32 Tamil texts, many of them older works by 1710.
