Detailed Solution

Hazira-Vijaipur-Jagdishpur (HVJ) is the first 1700 km long cross-country gas pipeline built by GAIL (India), which connects Mumbai High and Bassein gas fields to various gas fields, fertiliser, energy, and industrial estates in western and northern India. This artery has given momentum to the development of the Indian gas market. India's gas infrastructure has expanded more than 10 times from 1,700 km to 18,500 km in the interstate pipeline. The gas network is expected to reach more than 34,000 km by connecting all gas wells. Hypermarkets nationwide, including northeastern states. The project started in 1986 after  GAIL (India) Limited was founded to supply gas to fertiliser plants in  Uttar Pradesh. The first phase of the project, consisting of a 1,750-kilometre non-branched network, began in 1987.
