Detailed Solution

Winnowing is a method used to separate heavier components from lighter components by using air or wind.
Winnowing is the process of separating heavier and lighter components of a mixture using wind or blowing air. Farmers use this method to separate lighter husk particles from heavier grain seeds. A winnowing fan (a shaped basket shaken to raise the chaff) or a tool (a winnowing fork or shovel) were used on a pile of harvested grain. The chaff is blown away by the breeze, while the grains fall almost vertically. The chaff from a heap a short distance away from the grain heap. This is referred to as winnowing. Paddy (rice) and wheat are two examples.
