Detailed Solution

Untouchability is a social evil deeply rooted in Indian society.
Untouchability is the refusal to touch members of a particular caste and any societal customs that degrade people for having certain caste identities due to birth. They are prevented from interacting with others and using public areas while being equal citizens. The Constitution directs the government to end the practice of untouchability and refers to it. Untouchability consequently became illegal under the Constitution. Dalits and members of Scheduled Castes are still subjected to untouchability and caste prejudice.
