Detailed Solution

Chronic hunger is a type of hunger that is a consequence of diets persistently inadequate in terms of quality and quantity.
Hunger has two dimensions, which are chronic and seasonal. Chronic hunger mainly refers to malnutrition, which is caused by less intake of diet or calories than required daily. Despite the significant increase in food production, we can find many people without food in India. People below the poverty line suffer from chronic hunger as they cannot afford that much food to cover their calorie requirements. Almost 20 per cent of India's population is below the poverty line. That's why one-fifth of India's population suffers from chronic hunger.
