It describes the story of Manimekalai, the beautiful daughter of Kovalan and Madhavi, in 30 songs. Manimekalai is Silappadikaram's antithesis of focus, style, and propaganda in both epics. A Tamil epic, Manimekalai, was composed by Sattanar about 1400 years ago. This describes the story of Kovalan and Madhavi's daughter. These beautiful works were lost to scholars for centuries until their manuscripts were recovered about a hundred years ago. It is one of the five great epics of Tamil literature. Manimekalai is also considered to provide insight into early Tamilian life, culture, and society.
