Darjeeling Tea and Assam Tea are some of the famous varieties with worldwide demand. During British rule, they had to import vast tea from China. As a result, the British forced the native farmers to plant tea in their plantations in Assam. This was just the beginning. As the demand for tea increased, India started exporting its high-quality tea to different countries worldwide. Around 75% of the total production is the fraction consumed by India. India is just behind China in tea production. The favourable weather in the plantations increased tea production in recent years.
