Double counting is counting the value of a commodity more than once.
To know the total production in any of the three sectors, we need to count the goods and services produced in that sector in a financial year. There are two issues with the goods and services count. First, Products and services are generated in excess. So, counting them would be a difficult task. Second, Sometimes intermediate goods are also counted. It is called double counting. It will not give the actual figures for goods and services produced. Instead of using the actual figures, these issues can be solved by adding the values of the final items and services produced—Value=price x quantity. For instance, if 10,000 kg of wheat is sold at Rs 8 per kg, then the value of grain will be 80,000.
