Detailed Solution

The golden fibre, Jute, is known for its golden colour. The crop has a high commercial value. Jute is grown in regions of fertile soil like the plains of India. These regions have alluvial deposits by rivers and are continuously replenished by the rivers, making the region remain fertile. The hot and humid climate of the Northern Plains is best for the cultivation of jute, which requires a high temperature for growth. The northeast and eastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Odisha, and Bihar have jute cultivations. Jute is used for making several products like bags, ropes, and carpets. It is gradually replacing polythene bags in an attempt to reduce pollution.
