Detailed Solution

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport is the primary aviation hub for India's eastern and northeastern regions and serves the Kolkata Metropolitan Area. It is in West Bengal, India. It is around 15 kilometres from the city centre. Locally, the airport was known as Kolkata Airport and Dum Dum Airport before being renamed in 1995 after Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, a key figure in India's freedom struggle. Kolkata Airport, founded in 1924, is one of India's oldest. The airport handled over 20 million passengers in the fiscal year 2017-18, placing it sixth in India in terms of passenger traffic behind Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad.
