Decipherment is the process of extracting the meaning of written texts, particularly ancient texts. Inscriptions have been seen to be inscribed on hard surfaces. One of the most famous decipherment stories comes from Egypt, a country in North Africa with kings and queens. Rosetta is a town on Egypt's north coast where an inscribed stone was discovered with inscriptions in three different languages and scripts. Scholars were able to figure out what the Egyptian letters stood for through decipherment.
