Detailed Solution

Concept: The transfer of genetic material from DNA to RNA to make a functional product protein is by the process of gene expression.
There are two stages of gene expression- transcription and translation.
In transcription, DNA information from each cell gets converted into RNA messenger which during the translation process, converts into specific proteins. In transcription, the genetic information from DNA gets transferred into the RNA molecules. Even though the RNA consists of the same genetic information, it is not identical to the DNA segment but is complementary to the DNA template.
This transcription is carried out with the help of an enzyme- RNA polymerase along with some accessory proteins known as the transcription factors which bind to specific DNA sequences and enhance, promote the sequence to recruit the RNA polymerase enzyme. RNA polymerase and transcription factor forms a complex named as transcription initiation complex which involves beginning of mRNA synthesis by matching complementary bases to the original DNA strand.
mRNA molecules elongate and after completion of synthesis, the process gets terminated.
Hence, RNA polymerase is the correct answer.
