Detailed Solution

Tarapur Atomic Power Station (T.A.P.S.) is a nuclear power station in Tarapur, Palghar, India. It was India's first commercial nuclear power facility. The NPCIL operates the facility (Nuclear Power Corporation of India). Under 1963, 123 Agreement between India, the United States, and the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Tarapur Atomic Power Station was first built with two boiling water reactor (BWR) units (IAEA). GE and Bechtel built it for the Department of Atomic Energy. Units 1 and 2 were put into commercial operation on October 28, 1969, with an initial power of 210 MW. Due to technical challenges, this was later lowered to 160 MW.
