Detailed Solution

A solution is the homogeneous mixture of one or more solute dissolved in the solvent.
The solution is a homogenous mixture of two or more substances. Example: water, sugar etc. The substance which is present in less quantity is known as a solute, and the substance which is present in more quantity is known as a solvent. The substances are physically combined, not chemically combined or bonded. A solution cannot be a heterogenous mixture as it is composed of only one phase, i.e. the solute and solvent are mixed thoroughly, becoming a single phase mixture.
