Detailed Solution

Mumbai High is the largest oil field in the country. Formerly known as Bombay High Field, Mumbai High Field is an offshore oil field located approximately 75 metres deep, 176 km from the west coast of Mumbai in the Cambey Bay region of India. The Petroleum and Natural Gas Corporation of India operates the oil business. Mumbai High is so named because of the height of the depressions in the rock structure where oil was found. Higher than usual, oil is extracted from a depth of more than 1,400 metres using a specially designed platform called "Sagar Samrat''. As of 2020, Mumbai High and Bassein are India's most important oil and gas producers, accounting for almost two-thirds of the country's production.
