Detailed Solution

Karnataka is the largest producer of ragi. Ragi falls under the category of millets. Millets are coarse grain and have high nutritional value. Some millets other than ragi are Jowar and bajra. As ragi is also a millet, it is rich in calcium, phosphorus, and other nutrients. Ragi can be better grown in dry areas with red, black or loamy black soil. The largest producer of ragi in India is Karnataka due to favourable conditions. Other than Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, and Sikkim are other states where ragi is grown in abundance. Because of coarse grains, ragi is used for making Dosas, Rotis, Upma etc.
