Panchayat Samiti is the local government system at the tehsil or taluka or block level.
The Panchayati Raj system plays a vital role in the healthy functioning of democracy. It helps democracy to achieve decision-making and policy-making at the grassroots level. There are Three Levels of Panchayatsssi Raj Institutions in India, followed by many states. At the top of the village, a gramme panchayat is formed. All the members of the town are included. The Panchayat Samiti, or Janpad Panchayat, or block-level panchayat, is created at the block tier. In the block panchayat, all the members or villagers within a tehsil (block) make up the development block. Finally, "Zila Parishad" is an institution at the district level in Panchayati Raj.
