Detailed Solution

Low-grade brown coal is called lignite. The lowest-ranking coal, lignite, has a carbon content of 28–30% carbon content. Brown coal often forms a sedimentary rock and is naturally flammable. Due to its high volatile chemical content, lignite is easily transformed into liquid and gas forms, including petroleum products. Around 17 %of the world's coal reserves are lignite coal used to generate electricity. The primary lignite reserves to produce electricity are in Neyveli, Tamil Nadu.
