Agriculture is the main economic activity in Palampur. Palampur is a village of 450 families, the majority of which work in agriculture. Ninety of the families have significant farm holdings. Those with small or no land holdings work on the farms of big landlords as labourers. Most nonfarm activities are also related to agriculture, such as dairying. In Palampur, 274 hectares of land are under cultivation. About 200 hectares are under irrigation and can be cultivated all year round. The land not under irrigation can also be cultivated for Kharif and Rabbi crops.
