Detailed Solution

Golden womb is the meaning of hiranya-garbha. New kings performed the hiranya-garbha ritual to symbolise their rebirth as Kshatriyas. The name "Hiranyagarbha" only means "golden womb." The universe is believed to have originated there. In the middle of the ninth century, Dantidurga, a Rashtrakuta chief, overthrew his Chalukya lord using a rite known as hiranya-garbha (literally, the golden womb). It was thought that the sacrificer, who had never been a Kshatriya before, would take a "rebirth" as one when this rite was performed with the help of Brahmanas. Throughout his reign, Dantidurga overthrew a number of mighty kings, displaying extraordinary bravery.
