Sacred Grove is the name given to the forests of God and Goddesses. It has been an Indian tradition to worship mother nature, whether it be the sun, land, moon, river, mountains or forest. Many virgin forests ( those forests which have not come under human hunger for land and high economic development without considering nature ) are preserved because of such beliefs and are called Sacred Groves. Sacred Groves means God and goddess of the forest. There are several tribes in India which till now follow these practices. Such as Santhal and Mundas of Chota Nagpur plateau worship Kadamba and Mahua. Some tribes, Odisha and Bihar, worship Mango and tamarind trees during wedding times.
