Detailed Solution

Srinagar is the northern terminal of the North-South–East-West Corridor.
The North-South-East-West Corridor (NS-EW) is India's largest active highway project. The National Highways Development Project (NHDP) is the second phase. It involves the construction of 7300 kilometres of four/six-lane highways connecting Srinagar, Kanyakumari, Kochi, Porbandar, and Silchar. The NS-EW Corridor, together with the Golden Quadrilateral network and port connector highways, is an essential section of the Indian highway network, connecting many of the country's main industry, economic, and cultural areas. As of May 2012, India had finished and put into service around 15,800 kilometres of such four-lane highways. The National Highways Authority of India, which is part of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, is in charge of the NS-EW project.
