Ajmer is the place associated with the Sufi saint Khwaja Muinuddin Chisti.
He was in charge of bringing the Sufi order to India. Thus Ajmer, Rajasthan, India, is home to the Sufi shrine or Dargah of famed Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. Khwaja Ghareeb Nawaz was another name for Khwaja Moinuddin. He was a Persian Muslim preacher who also studied and practised Islam. He was the eighth in the line of succession after Abu Ishaq Shami, the founder of the Chishti order, which had its beginnings in a small village in Chisht near Afghanistan. To promote Islam, Khwaja Muinuddin Chisti arrived and settled in Ajmer. Moreover, his Dargah in Ajmer is accessible to everyone, regardless of religion.
