Greece is the place where the first natural magnet was discovered.
Magnes, a shepherd, discovered magnets in Ancient Greece. He used to carry a stick with a small piece of iron attached to it while taking his goats and sheep for grazing on a mountain. His stick became attracted to a rock one day, and he struggled to get it back. Finally, he observed that the rock was a natural magnet drawn to the stick's iron point. As a result, the natural magnet was discovered and named magnetite after the shepherd. However, other people claimed that it was discovered in Magnesia.
