Disguised Unemployment is the unemployment that exists in the primary sector.
For instance, A girl named Radha owns a small plot of land on which she and other family members cultivate rice. Her entire family is engaged in this cultivation activity. Her family consists of eight members. All of them work on the same piece of land throughout the year. But the land requires only five active labourers. We can see that three additional labourers are involved in cultivation. They all seem to be employed throughout the year as they work on the land. But in reality, their labour effort gets divided, and they work less than their potential and, hence, are underemployed. This type of underemployment that is not visible and remains hidden is called “disguised unemployment.”
