1500 km is the length of largest peninsular river. The Godavari river is the largest of all the Peninsular rivers. It originates from the Western Ghats located in the district of Nasik, in Maharashtra. It drains into the Bay of Bengal. The region of drainage (drainage basin) is also considered to be the largest of all the other drainage basins of the Peninsular rivers. The Godavari basin covers different states namely Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra (where 50 per cent of the basin can be found).
