On March 12, 1930, when he began the Dandi March from Sabarmati Ashram in Gujarat and arrived in Dandi on April 6, 1930, where he violated the salt rule. A citizen who actively and publicly disobeys a government's demands, orders, or directions is said to be engaging in civil disobedience. When the British created an unjust rule that permitted anyone to be arrested without a trial, the Civil Disobedience Movement was born.
