Buying and selling of human beings are known as human trafficking. Human trafficking is a serious offence and is banned in most countries worldwide. Still, it is a crime widely executed. Mostly, the poor, underdeveloped, and developing countries suffer from such a severe problem. Trafficking leads to the exploitation of a person in various forms. It leads to slavery, sexual exploitation, forced labour (begar) etc. Trafficking occurs in all parts of the world and goes unreported because the victims usually include vulnerable sections of society like women and poor people. Right against Exploitation, Article 23(1) of the Indian Constitution prohibits trafficking and declares it a punishable offence. Section 370 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) states that trafficking leads to a punishment of not less than seven years. It may also be further extended. 30 July is observed as the World Day Against Trafficking.
