Detailed Solution

Secular means citizens have complete freedom to follow any religion. But there is no official religion of the state. The government treats all religions, beliefs and practices with equal respect.
  • Secularism depicts that religion should not engage with governance. An individual has the right to rehearse their beliefs without any discrimination.
  • In India, the word "secular" is mentioned in the preamble, by which individuals come to know what secularism is. India's secularism is also shown in its fundamental rights (articles 25–28), which give every citizen the freedom to practise any religion. Article 25 doesn't just speak for religious beliefs and principles but also about practices (rituals).
