Both the Radicals and the Moderates opposed the division of Bengal. The mass protest and sizable public rallies were the catalysts for the Vandemataram Movement, popularly known as the Swadeshi movement. It was most potent in deltaic Andhra and Bengal. The movement emphasised how important it is to use Swadeshi items and avoid all types of imported goods and resources. Everyone was instructed to wear khadi clothing, giving them momentum, the project aimed to encourage local industries. As part of the Swadeshi movement, massive demonstrations against imported apparel and items were organised, and people were pushed to buy and consume products made in India.
