Detailed Solution

Sarnath is near Varanasi, where Buddha taught for the first time.
Buddhists are followers of Buddha, and their faith is known as Buddhism. Buddhism derives its inspiration from Buddha's teachings. For example, Siddhartha Gautama wandered for six years before attaining enlightenment or Nirvana under a peepal tree in Gaya (Bihar) at the age of 35. He was given the title Gautama Buddha after attaining enlightenment. He then travelled to Sarnath, near Varanasi, to teach for the first time. Gautama Buddha's first sermon was delivered at Sarnath and is known as 'Dharmachakrapravartana,' which means "turning off the wheel of the law." He spent the rest of his life walking from place to place, teaching people, until he died in Kusinara.
