General Dyer ordered an open fire in the infamous Jallianwalla Bagh incident on 13th April 1919 at Amritsar. On that day, a largely peaceful crowd had gathered to protest against the arrest of Indian independence leaders in Amritsar, Punjab. This crowd of protestors were met by Gurkha British Indian Army led by Brigadier General Dyer. Dyer and his army opened fire on these protesters who were stuck in Jallianwala Bagh as there was only one exit, with the other three sides surrounded by buildings. Thousands of innocent people were killed.
