Detailed Solution

French artist Frédéric Sorrieu created a set of four prints in 1848 to represent his vision of a world filled with "democratic and social Republics," as he called them.
The poster from the series depicts men and women of all ages and socioeconomic classes from Europe and America walking on a long train and paying respect to the Statue of Liberty as they pass by it. Artists of the French Revolution-era portrayed Liberty as a female figure; in this image, you can see the Charter of Human Rights in her left hand and the torch of Enlightenment in her right hand. The shattered remnants of the absolutist symbols are seen on the ground in the image's foreground.
