Detailed Solution

Martin Luther proclaimed printing as the ultimate and the greatest gift of God. He, a religious reformer, authored Ninety-Five Theses in 1517, criticizing many of the Roman Catholic Church's practices and ceremonies. This was posted on the door of a church in Wittenberg. The Church was challenged to discuss his ideas. Luther's publications were instantly mass-produced and widely read. Luther's translation of the New Testament sold 5,000 copies in a matter of weeks, and a second edition was published three months later. 'Printing is God's ultimate and greatest gift,' Luther declared, deeply grateful to print. Several experts believe that print created a new intellectual milieu and aided in the spread of new ideas that led to the Reformation.
