Criminal law refers to those acts which are considered crimes in the eyes of the law. These crimes are known as cognizable offenses that require an investigation by the police, and a trial in the court where a defence lawyer and a prosecution lawyer present their witnesses and evidence regarding the offence. The defence lawyer presents witnesses and evidence in favor of the accused while the prosecution lawyer puts forward the witnesses and the evidence against the accused.
