Detailed Solution

The Frankfurt Parliament refers to the German National Assembly, which was established during the 1848 Revolution.
It attempted to unite Germany democratically. A large number of political associations from various regions of Germany brought together middle-class professionals, businessmen, and wealthy artisans. On May 18, 1848, they gathered in Frankfurt and voted for an all-German National Assembly. The first session of the Frankfurt Parliament was held in St. Paul's Church. The 831 elected members of Parliament drafted a constitution for the German nation, which would be led by a monarchy subject to a Parliament. When the deputies offered the crown to Friedrich Wilhelm IV, King of Prussia, he declined and joined other monarchs in their opposition to the elected Assembly. Radical political groups attempted to enforce the constitution through the civil war in Germany, but they were crushed. The work of the Frankfurt Parliament was rejected by the two major German powers, Austria and Prussia.
