Detailed Solution

Minimum Support Price (MSP) refers to the prices the government decides to purchase food grains from farmers.
The food corporation in India checks the region with surplus production of mainly wheat and rice and purchases the foodgrains from the farmers at the pre-announced price, also known as minimum support prices. The surplus-producing states, Haryana and Punjab, pressured the government, especially the central government, to purchase the foodgrains from them. But the increase in the minimum support price has depleted the quality of food grains for poor people. These are referred to as coarse grain, which poor people afford.
